Weekly Reflection #8 – Cross-Curricular Coding & Gaming in Education

This week in class, we talked about the importance of coding and language in technology, and how this can be represented in the classroom.

We began by watching a video, https://youtu.be/a0Cpvk0zP2s about a father joking around with his kids while trying to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He did this by following the directions super literally, which drove his children crazy! This was relevant to our class because it was an example of how language can be interpreted, and when coding, the language being used needs to be SUPER specific, otherwise it can mess up the code.

I did some beginner coding in class today, where I coded a Flappy Bird game with different modifications to make it my own – heres the link!

I even got certified afterward! This was a great experience, and I can definitely see myself using these resources in my future classroom.
